ABOUT ANGEL LUCY’S FUNERAL HOME
"Our society is changing the traditional funeral service. The way folks have viewed it is definitely changing," explains Dee Besteiro, Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home director. "We have to provide what the customer is wanting, desiring. We need to fulfill their last wishes. The bottom line is we are going to embrace the new interest.
Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home features two locations to serve families in the Crossroads area: one in Port Lavaca and the second in Victoria. Both locations are undergoing renovations, will become ADA complainant and have updated exteriors. The funeral vehicles will also be upgraded.
"If any improvements are needing to be done, we would like to hear from the community, and we want to do our best to serve the community, and be the best funeral home for the people in Victoria and surrounding communities," says Besteiro.
NEWLY OWNED, BUT STILL LOCAL
The new owners (of what was formerly Artero Memorial Chapels) renamed the funeral home after an iconic Crossroads woman known as the Angel of Port Lavaca. Owner Cesar Ornelas changeD the name of the chapels in Victoria and Port Lavaca to Angel Lucy's Funeral Home to honor his mother, Lucia Ornelas, who died of an aneurysm seven years ago.
Cesar and Belia Ornelas, both of Los Fresnos, bought the business May 2017 from the Artero family, who owned the funeral home for more than 75 years. The Arteros wanted to retire, and none of their children were interested in taking over the company. Ornelas' main goal with owning the funeral homes is to continue the traditions and quality customer service the Arteros established.
